| Stephen Marshall | is Senior Lecturer at the Bartlett School of Planning in London. In his book ‘ Cities Design and Evolution ’ (2008), he researches how cities are put together; both in terms of how different parts are organised in relation to the whole, and how they are created or evolve over time. In his book, he presents a new evolutionary perspective that recognises both the designed and organic shenandoah cabinets nature of cities.
  How can these systems contribute to the growth of the urban agglomeration as a whole? What steps need to be taken to strengthen the self organising capacities of cities in networks? How is the governance of the 21st century network city managed?
