A year ago, they knew they wanted to work together: the designers Karl-Johan kitchen cabinet design Hjerling and Karin Wallenbeck and carpenters Karolina Stenfelt and Gunnar Dahl. They started carpentry, which is now launching its first collection with handmade furniture.
There is no deadline kitchen cabinet design and furniture are not ready until they are absolutely perfect. In the very first collection includes four items: Mediterranean, Frank, Works and Beast. Actually quite individual projects, and a strong individualism that characterizes all joinery works.
The ocean is a cupboard in pine whose shape resembles a stormy kitchen cabinet design sea. The structure around the entire cabinet surface is similar to ripples on the water as carving up. Frank is a transparent box, Works is a desk that consists of a large box, which is the classic journeyman sample and the Beast is a light in tight leather. Care about each object is reminiscent of art, but Karin Wallenbeck points out that this is furniture that is sold.
- We are a commercial company and we have to be able to count on home projects eventually. We see that the international market will be important for us. There are audiences who appreciate the craftsmanship and also can pay for it, she says.
So far, the launch of the first four furniture has been a success. The expressions of interest flows in both Sweden and abroad. As the business demands will Snickeriet grow. But exactly what the next step is too early to say.
The door of the new design is open at carpentry. Karin Wallenbeck and Karl-Johan Hjerling will be creatively responsible while the network of designers and carpenters grows. But what the next piece in the collection will remain a secret.
